BALLS, MATS & STORIES for Preschoolers is a great way for the preschool set to get out and enjoy themselves with mom or dad or Caregiver, or even Grandma or Grandpa.

Each week brings a different theme.

The hour starts with free time for the children to enjoy – running, chasing balls, throwing balls, summersaults, skipping, obstacle course around the pillions, or follow the leader, rolling hoola hoops... The imagination is fantastic! This is a great time for the kids to be kids and just have fun and run!

Parachute is another great favourite with the children of all ages.

The last part of the hour is for snack and stories.

Please bring a peanut- free snack for your little one to enjoy.

Stories – puppets, felt stories, books, songs, fingerplays, action songs, are enjoyed and everyone is encouraged to participate.

Your child does not have to sit for stories. As the children get older their attention increases and they will want to listen and participate. Do not worry if your child would rather chase the balls.

What better place than in the gym to run! Play chase – enjoy!

Participation Costs can be paid two ways:
Drop – In Fee $5.00
Or reserve your place for the whole session.
September – December Only $60
(Prepaid - Only $4.00 per week)

Children are the Future! Well ya! Can’t argue there!

Children can wrap you around their little finger so quickly you almost forget who the parent is!

This is proven every day! Just one more story pleeease! Drink! Snack! Hugggg! great one! What parent can resist that one! )
See what I mean! No matter what we believe the kids are in charge! And it is our job as parents, caregivers, grandparents, relatives, friends, neighbours, to help them rule correctly.
Kind of neat way to change who is in charge?!??! We get to help to make sure the king or queen rules right. Give the correct guidance. And still let them think they are in charge. Subtle but effective!
Now the ‘Super Nanny’ has the right idea. You must let them be kids but they do need the guidance to do it correctly. Super Nanny should be watched by every parent or parent-to-be. Great advice!

Now this is not what I started to write about. Funny how thoughts change as you put hand to keyboard.

I wanted to explain how and why for this blog.

I have been a Child Care Provider for over 27 years. I stumbled on to the job. I was trying to decide if I could go back to work after my second daughter was born. Someone suggested if I decide to stay home I could look after their child. Well the decision was made! I loved my chosen career (even if it chose me!). Sometimes things happen for a reason.
My career with children took many different roles:, Child Care Providers Resource Network of Ottawa, Block Parents, Girl Guide Leader, Storytime, Dufferdoo, Kidcare Time, … I have held postions on their boards, taught workshops and lead camps. All for the children and my girls.
I have retired from my Home Daycare. But it hasn’t retired from me. I hold a weekly BALLS, MATS & Stories for Preschoolers at the local community centre. This is a great opportunity for kids to be kids and run, chase balls, roll and have fun. It gives me the opportunity to interact with children which I love. I also get the part I really enjoy which is Story Time. A perfect match!
I have four grandboys and who knows how many more to come! I have three daughters. They live across this great country – why does it have to be so big?

This blog will bring something to you for your children.
Maybe a story that I like or you remind me about.
A craft idea.
A song for the season.
Something that is happening that I wanted to share.
A great website parents or children would be interested in.
A product that someone told me about.
Or just me writing something I wanted to share.
You get the idea.
Come back often to see what is new.
Or sign up and be notified by email what is happening.

Till next time.
Yours in Caring
Judy
